I have empathy for my friends and family so I seek to limit harm I may cause them and help them when I can. My empathy can extend further to include humanity as a whole and other life, though it is not as strong as my empathy for those I directly know.

This basis can also explain following the laws of the society I am in. If I would steal food to feed my family, that may help my family, however it has a strong possibility that it would harm my family in the long run because of being caught and the punishment that comes with it. Thus the end result would be far more harm towards my family then the original help I sought to provide.

It can also explain how psychopaths can go against what most people consider moral because they lack empathy for others.S.W.https://www.blogger.com/profile/01674039930936401506noreply@blogger.com
